INFORMATION ABOUT KASPERSKY SMALL OFFICE SECURITY

Kaspersky Small Office Security provides complete protection for personal computers and file servers. Complete protection means protection of computers, data and users, as well as remote management of Kaspersky Small Office Security installed on all network computers. Various security features and protection modules have been implemented in Kaspersky Small Office Security to provide complete protection. Installation on a file server is done in the same way as installing on a personal computer.

Computer protection

Protection modules are used to protect your computer against known and new threats, network attacks, scams and spam. Each type of threat is dealt with by a separate protection component (read the description of the modules in this section). Components can be switched on, off and configured independently of each other. As a complement to the real-time protection offered by the modules, we recommend that you scan your computer regularly for viruses and other malicious programs. This is necessary to exclude the possible spread of malicious programs that have not been detected by the protection components, for example due to the low security setting or other reasons. In order for the modules and databases versions of Kaspersky Small Office Security not to expire, you must update them. Some tasks that are not done too often (for example, cleaning traces of user activity in the system) can be started using advanced tools and wizards.

 

The following components protect your computer in real time:

File protection

File Anti-Virus prevents infection of the computer's file system. The module starts when the operating system loads, stays in RAM and scans all files that are opened, saved or run on your computer, and all connected drives. Kaspersky Small Office Security intercepts every open file and scans it for known viruses and other malicious programs. If the file is not infected or has been disinfected by antivirus software, you can still use it. If the file is disinfected, it will be deleted. In this situation, the copy of the file is moved to Quarantine. If the infected file is placed in the same location where it found the deleted file with the same name, Quarantine will only save a copy of the second file. A copy of the first file with the same name will not be saved.

 Mail protection

Mail Anti-Virus scans all incoming and outgoing messages on your computer. An e-mail is available to the recipient only if it does not contain dangerous objects.

Web protection

Web Anti-Virus intercepts and blocks the execution of dangerous scripts on websites. Web Anti-Virus also monitors all Internet traffic and blocks access to dangerous websites.

IM protection

IM protection allows secure use of instant messengers. It protects information that reaches your computer through instant messaging protocols. The IM Anti-Virus module ensures secure operation of various applications used for communication.

Application control

Application control saves actions performed in the operating system by applications and manages their activities based on the group to which they belong. A set of rules is specified for each application group. These rules govern the access of programs to various operating system resources.

Firewall

It provides security when working in local networks and the Internet. This module is designed to filter network activity by applying two types of rules: rules for applications and rules for packets.

Network monitor

The network monitor is designed to monitor network activity in real time.

System control

The System Check component can be used to recall malicious actions made in the operating system.

Blocking network attacks

The Network Attack Blocker is loaded when the operating system starts and scans incoming network traffic for activity specific to network attacks. At the first attempt to attack your computer, Kaspersky Small Office Security will block all network activity of the attacking computer.

Anti-Spam

The Anti-Spam module interacts with the e-mail client installed on your computer and scans all incoming e-mails for spam. All spam messages are marked with special headers. You can configure the Anti-Spam component to process spam messages in a specific way (for example, to delete them automatically or to move them to a special folder).

Anti-Phishing

Anti-Phishing allows you to check if Internet addresses are on the list of phishing addresses. Anti-Phishing is integrated with the components Web Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam and IM Anti-Virus.

Blocking banners

Blocking banners blocks advertising banners displayed on websites or embedded in application interfaces.

Safe money

Secure money provides protection of confidential data when using online banking and payment systems, and prevents the theft of funds when making payments online.

Safe entering from the keyboard
               Secure keyboard input provides protection against keyloggers when entering personal data on websites. The virtual keyboard prevents interception of data entered using the physical keyboard and protects personal data against attempts to intercept them using screenshots.
