Windows 10 Pro for Workstations introduces new features to take advantage of the power of high-end computer equipment.
ReFS (Resilient file system): ReFS provides cloud flexibility for data about fault-tolerant disk spaces and easily manages very large volumes. ReFS is designed to be resistant to data corruption, optimized for handling large data volumes, automatic correction and more. Protects your data with integrity streams on your mirrored disk spaces. By using its integrity streams, ReFS detects when data is corrupted on one of the mirrors and uses a healthy copy of data on the other disk to improve and protect its valuable data.
Persistent memory: Windows 10 Pro for Workstations provides the most demanding applications and data thanks to non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N). NVDIMM-N allows reading and saving files at the highest possible speed, with the speed of main computer memory. Because NVDIMM-N is a non-volatile memory, your files will still be available, even if you turn off the workstation.
Faster file sharing: Windows 10 Pro for workstations includes a feature called SMB Direct, which supports the use of network cards with remote access to direct memory (RDMA). Network cards that have RDMA can run at full speed with very little delay, while they use very little CPU.
Enhanced hardware support: One of the most critical points voiced by our Windows experts was to limit the use of raw machine power. Therefore, we are expanding hardware support in Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. Users will now be able to run Windows 10 Pro for workstations on devices with high performance configurations, including server Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors, with up to 4 processors (currently limited to 2 processors) and add massive memory up to 6 TB (currently limited to 2 TB).
